Not quite.
When a Level 1 PAR decision results in a denial or partial approval, the provider does not need to submit a new request. For most PAR types, the case automatically escalates to Level 2 physician review without any additional action required.
The one exception is Medication PARs. For those, the provider must initiate the Level 2 escalation through the OnBoard system. For all other PAR types, escalation is automatic.
Understanding this distinction matters. Submitting a redundant request or waiting when escalation has already occurred can create unnecessary delays and compliance exposure.
